August 26th is the date for the 2018 Wellington County Museum’s Antique and Classic Car Show. This will be the 43rd annual show – the oldest continuous event we host! This year’s theme is British Cars. We would be pleased to have you join us for the afternoon’s traditional old-fashioned family festivities. The car show runs from 12:00 – 4:00pm, there will be entertainment, prizes and a charity BBQ. Cars are invited to arrive and register at the museum beginning at 11:00am; those participating with a vehicle will receive a coupon for a free hot dog/burger and drink. This year the BBQ will be a Fergus M & M charity event. We do not charge a registration fee but are grateful for additional donations to the charity BBQ! There will be prizes for Best in Show, Best Finish, Jolly Good (Best British Car), and Farthest Distance Travelled. The Fergus Brass Band will once again be here, as well as the local band 12th Line, who will perform from 2-4:00 pm. The museum hours are from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, we ask that the cars remain on site until at least 3:30 pm, when awards will be presented. If you have any questions regarding this year’s show, please contact me, Justin Clouthier, at 519.846.0916, ext. 5231, or justinc@wellington.ca.

We are working on Elwin to see if his shop is available. If anyone else has any bright ideas please let me know. Ken's El Cashino got new wheels, transmission, floors and interior this winter. I'll let you know when the story is updated on the Members Project page. Here is a before and after comparison. Before... After...
Welcome to Spring(ish) all BLCC Members and fans out there! This weekend is daylight savings roll forward so don't forget to change all of those 40 year old clocks forward one hour in your classic cars. I'd hate for you to show up to meetings and hour late. Stay tuned to the Blog over the next week because we have a bunch of updates on members cars and projects that happened over the winter. Next meeting is at Ken Varley's shop on March 15th at 7pm. Please DO NOT bring birthday presents, it embarrasses him. If you don't know where it is located, go to Heath & Laurie's and honk your horn. Failing that, call 416-453-8627 and Ken will come pick you up on his mini bike. Anyhow... This meeting is going to be off the charts so mark it in your calendar and plan to be there. This year if going to be more focused on club events like cruises and get together opportunities than spending all of our time concentrating on the Car Show. We will be looking for new ideas, please bring them forward if you are willing to spearhead implementation of the idea. The last thing we need is somebody with a ton of good ideas that expects the rest of the club to organize.

That right! The pictures are loaded and they are tight and out of sight. Please send in any that you have and I'll post them too. Winners names and car descriptions coming soon! To all members of the BLCC. Thank you for all of your support this year organizing the Car Show. We don't always agree on everything but we always respect each other. We also have the best intentions for organizing our car show. We have lost and gained new members over the years, please keep this in mind... New members will breathe new life, new skills and new ideas into the club, making us stronger. Members that exit the club will also strengthen us by leaving with their lack of commitment, self serving attitudes, arrogance and Pete's Maui Jim's! Keep up the great work and let's make the 2018 car show one to remember!
Ken WOW... I have no idea where to start... Every year this show increases in attendance, popularity and quality of cars. At least that is what people tell me, I was stuck in the food tent all day ensuring that all those hungry customers experienced the best meat ever slid between soft buns. Final car count was 300+ registered and another 50 to 100 non-registered. We could not have pulled this off without all of the people that decided to make a pit stop during their Sunday Cruise and hang out with some like minded individuals. Roger the Deejay was as excellent and accommodating as usual. Let's not forget all of the BLCC Members that hosted this event. Here are a few pictures. Stay tuned for the official 2017 Car Show Gallery after I wrestle the pictures off of the attractive young lady that volunteered to take photo's. Here are our winners! More information to come!
Check out the latest update on Heath's Tempest. He has been busy this Spring and Summer! All the details are in the Current Members Projects under 1963 LeMans.
Mike and Julie Woelfle have supported us for 4 years with managing our BBQ. There is no possible way that we could pull off the mouth watering meals without their help! It was time to give back this year with a catering style BBQ. Please support these pillars of the community by stopping in for some tasty butter tarts at the Belwood Market next time you are in town! Below you can see Pete and Ron "Customizing" the BBQ. Never give car guys a reason to modify something! Sorry about the "Flash Glare" on this picture folks. For some reason Ron took his hat off. Look for Belwood Lake Car Club Branded BBQ's in a store near you! Here is when we presented it to Mike.

Guys and Gals,
Here is an opportunity to see some of the nicest cars in the area. I attended this show last year and had a great time. The museum is open so go have a peek through it and we will be holding a contest to see who can find something in the museum older than Gary! |
