Barn Finds

11/5/2015

We have all been there. Driving down a dusty road and a glimmer of patina  paint catches our eye. It could be buried in a field of weeds or the door to a barn could be finally left open. Our imagination starts to run wild. Could this be the lost 68 Mustang from Bullitt or is it just a hunter green 66 Comet 4 door??? Either way, we all have the innate inclination to pull over and investigate. There have been many documented barn finds over the years.

Alas, my only barn find was an 82 AMC Spirit AMX (please contain your laughter). I fixed it up and drove it like I stole it, for many years. With an impressive 0-60 time that you could clock with a sundial, it was definitely and A2B car (get's you from point A to point B).

Tell us about that Old or Future Classic that you saved from the squirrel feces.

I found a nice 70 Malibu in a barn once. The farmer wouldn't sell it and it was lost in the Barrie tornado of 1985. :(

I lost my 82 Super Cycle BMX in that same Tornado. Bad times....

Mine wasn't so much a barn find, but a back row of Guelph Nissan find.

It was a 2 door 1966 Chevy Belair. It had a straight 6 and a power gluide transmission. I was hooked, and don't know what I wouldn't do to have it back.

I didn't do anything with it when I got it( 17 years old with no funds) but looking at the only picture I have of it, it just screems big block 4 spd!

I sold it to a guy from a car club in Guelph and that club bought it to tow their Christmas parade float.

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a car called Bel Air.

I saved a 62 Corvette from a crusty old man once. I proceeded to disassemble it and built my own barn to store the parts in. Many years later I moved everything 3 blocks on a rusty old trailer spreading car parts around the neighbourhood like some deranged inebriated Santa Claus.
